The bucket list for Zell am See-Kaprun

In Zell am See-Kaprun, impressive mountain landscapes and gentle valleys meet playful roads along Lake Zell. A favourite spot for anyone who enjoys active holidays in nature: you can also follow this longing on Instagram.

At the beginning of August, we sent our five Brand Ambassadors to our region’s most beautiful places with the new Audi Q4 e-tron. With up to 520 kilometres of range, they were able to tick off the bucket list fully powered by electric. If you need inspiration for your next holiday: it's worth getting out here!

Hovering above the Kaprun High Mountain Reservoirs

The sight of the two high mountain reservoirs in Kaprun was Marcel Lesch's (@evolumina) summer highlight. For his rather sporty goal, he was on the road in the Audi Q4 e-tron: he set out to get to know both the MOBO 107 via ferrata directly on the dam wall and the Höhenburg via ferrata arena with three climbing routes of varying levels of difficulty.

TIP 1: VIA FERRATA MOBO107 AND HÖHENBURG VIE FERRATE

The MOBO 107 via ferrata is the world's highest via ferrata on a dam wall and can only be reached spectacularly via a flying fox right at the start. The via ferrata remains adventurous until the end, because a rope bridge awaits you at the exit.

Our ambassador also had a go at the vie ferrate of the Höhenburg. All three steel rope routes end at the panoramic summit of the Höhenburg. Thanks to the unique backdrop of the fjord-like reservoirs, this is the perfect photo spot.

With the Gondola to the panorama of the Schmittenhöhe

What do the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Schmittenhöhe cable car have in common? Both the workmanship of the purely electric SUV and the gondolas by Porsche Design shine with their high-quality finished details. Our regional ambassador @zeppaio also traced this impressive progress when he first drove around Lake Zell in the Audi Q4 e-tron and then treated himself to a ride on the gondola uphill to the local mountain - the Schmittenhöhe.

Tip 2: Imperial flair on the mountain throne

The Schmittenhöhe is known as Austria's most beautiful panoramic mountain and really doesn't promise too much with its far-reaching view of 30 three-thousand-metre-high mountains. The 360-degree panorama with views of the lake and the Hohe Tauern is impressive!
After a trip up the mountain, you can enjoy an imperial meal at the "Franzl" restaurant on the Schmittenhöhe. Here, traditional dishes are served in a chic country-style ambience with a fine selection of wines. So don't be surprised if @deniscebulec or @manueldietrichphotography's Instagram feed shows a fluffy Kaiserschmarrn among the mountain views.

From Kaprun directly to Kitzsteinhorn glacier

If you take the Audi Q4 e-tron on a tour of Zell am See-Kaprun, you will undoubtedly stop at the Kitzsteinhorn. More precisely, at the "3K K-onnection" cable car connection, which links Kaprun, the Maiskogel and the Kitzsteinhorn. You can ascend to 3,029 metres above sea level here where Austria's mightiest mountain peaks are within reach!

Tip 3: Summit breakfast with snow panorama on the Kitzsteinhorn

Would you like a coffee with this view? This wish will also be fulfilled. This is where @franelle had her most impressive Alpine experience: "Farmers’ best" at the Kitzsteinhorn summit breakfast in fresh snow. By the way, Francesca Lesch aka franelle regularly comes to Zell am See-Kaprun. "The contrast of this region combines everything you could wish for on holiday, from wellness to action," she says.

Coffee aroma & more: exploring Zell am See

You don't have to go to dizzy heights to be overwhelmed by Zell am See-Kaprun. The old town of Zell am See is situated on a peninsula between the Schmittenbach stream and Lake Zell - and here, in the little alleys, you can also get carried away on discovery tours. Coffee connoisseurs, for example, will get what their heart desires at the "Bella Bean" roasting house. A place like a living room, where the Bella Bean baristas create your individual favourite pick-me-up.

TIP 4: POTTERY WORKSHOP AND MITTERBERG

Want to let off steam in a creative way? Then you should visit the "Waldwerkstatt" pottery workshop, idyllically located on the outskirts of Zell am See. Here, beginners and experienced artists can turn the wheel during a pottery course. In the course rooms or outdoors, you can try out different glazes and types of clay or learn the Japanese Raku technique.

If you still need a view into the distance afterwards, you'll get what your heart desires on the Mitterberg near Zell am See. The Mitterberg is a high plateau 1,200 metres above sea level and a place to stay a while and feel good. The owner family of the Mitterberg mountain inn will treat you to their culinary delights on the sun terrace. With the purely electric Audi Q4 e-tron, the way to the hill is also made easy and electrifying!

Light design in Zell am See-Kaprun

In keeping with the extraordinary shape and light design of the Audi Q4 e-tron, our ambassadors then set off for a special night-time spectacle of nature in the Sigmund Thun Gorge in Kaprun.

TIP 5: GORGEOUS LIGHTS IN THE SIGMUND THUN GORGE

In the summer months, the gorge is transformed into a mystical fairy tale in the evening thanks to the spectacle of lights. Roaring water in the spotlight, colourfully illuminated rock walls and the magical hiking trail make this spectacle an impressive experience.
