Outdoor experiences Attractions between glacier, mountain & lake

The rugged rock faces of the Kitzsteinhorn on one side, the Pinzgau grass mountains around the Schmittenhöhe on the other, with Lake Zell nestling in the middle: nature around Zell am See-Kaprun is made for unique outdoor moments. Where else can you experience adventures between glacier, mountain and lake?

Salzburg's highest-situated excursion destination

It's a view that never loses its magic: Whether you are standing on the "Top of Salzburg" summit platform at over 3,000 metres above sea level for the first time or you know the region like the back of your hand, the sea of peaks is always impressive. It doesn’t come as a surprise that the highest point in Salzburg, accessible for everyone, is one of the most popular excursion destinations. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier is located at the gates to the Hohe Tauern National Park, and is the top address for sports enthusiasts all year round. Here you will not only find downhill runs and freeride lines, but also numerous hiking and mountain tours.

From the gorge to Lake Zell

A little further down in the valley, other natural attractions - such as the mystical Sigmund Thun Gorge or the turquoise-coloured high mountain reservoirs of Kaprun are waiting for you. The Maiskogel adventure mountain with the Maisi Flitzer Alpine Coaster or the panorama and family mountain Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See offer further outdoor experiences for the whole family: Did you know that Schmidolin the dragon is at home here? He invites families to his world of adventures in summer and winter.

Lake Zell itself becomes a favourite spot for guests and locals especially in the summer months. That's when the lidos open their gates and you can go on a great trip on board the excursion boats.
