1.9 kilometres of swimming in the crystal-clear Lake Zell, 90 kilometres of cycling on a road bike, 21.1 kilometres of running; these are the key data of the IRONMAN 70.3 on 1 September 2024 in Zell am See-Kaprun. This IRONMAN event in SalzburgerLand in Austria is a top-class sports event: in this challenging triathlon, athletes from all over the world compete against the impressively beautiful natural backdrop of glacier, mountain and lake. This variety is particularly evident in the cycling competition. The course leads right through the mountains and was voted Europe’s third most beautiful IRONMAN course by the athletes.

First discipline: Swimming in Lake Zell

  • 1.9-kilometre-long course Start from and back to the lido Seespitz in Schüttdorf
  • Turning buoys just before the town centre of Zell am See

Second discipline: Cycling

  • 90 kilometres, 870 metres difference in altitude
  • Numerous uphill and downhill sections
  • Highest point: Filzen Saddle at 1,280 metres above sea level

Third discipline: Running

  • 21.1 kilometres along Lake Zell
  • From Zell am See to Thumersbach and back
  • Course is completed twice
