3 x pure sunshine in Zell am See-Kaprun

The perfect sunny day in Zell am See-Kaprun is one thing above all – full of variety. We start early in the morning with skiing downhill on smooth pistes, then stop at a hut for lunch before ending the day by the lake.

Getting up early?

Not really our thing. And if we jump out of bed early, then there must be a really good reason: Skiing, for example! From the end of February, when spring is already quietly arriving in the valley, it's worth getting out on the pistes early. The snow on the smoothly groomed pistes in the morning is ideal for enjoying wide turns and skilfully wedeling downhill on long runs.

You can easily combine skiing and sunbathing at one of the many huts in the region. But first things first! First the sport, then the break - and so we enjoy our turns on the vast pistes of the Schmittenhöhe, in the Kitzsteinhorn ski resort or on the Maiskogel just like the pros.

The fact that the downhill runs are so much fun is also due to our new equipment, especially the new skis, which have been specially tailored to us female skiers: The JOY women's ski from Head.

Tip

The entire series of JOY skis has been specially tailored to the biomechanical needs of strong female skiers, and they offer a stable, reliable, and safe skiing experience. From the Pure JOY women's ski to the Power JOY women's ski, every ski in the range offers maximum versatility and can support beginners as well as professionals. The JOY series was developed by women for women: Skiing legend Anna Veith was also involved, supporting in particular the redesign of the Power JOY women's ski as a high-performance ski for very sporty female skiers.

And now: Lunch break!

The midday sun beckons on the terraces of the mountain restaurants and huts after a sporty morning. And yes, we are of course a little hungry too. We enjoy lunch on the Schmittenhöhe, called the "panoramic mountain" for good reason, and have more than 30 three-thousand-metre-high peaks in view.

How beautiful! There are also numerous huts here that can be reached by non-skiers - such as the AreitAlm, which is located right next to the upper terminus of the areitXpress. You can find the hut guide for vitamin D replenishment here.

The Kitzsteinhorn also invites to take a break with or without skis: using the 3K-onnection, you glide uphill to Salzburg's highest-situated excursion destination at 3,029 metres in panoramic gondolas. Once you reach the summit of the Kitzsteinhorn, the Gipfel Restaurant awaits with lunch or a coffee break as well as a magnificent view. You can find more inspiration for your culinary breaks here.

With a full stomach and a (almost) full level of vitamin D, we set off on the final downhill run in the afternoon. Back in the valley, we complement our nature experience with a walk along the shores of Lake Zell. Here we enjoy the day’s last warm rays of sunshine.

A perfect sunny day!
