Summer, sun, lido

Summer, sun, lido

Hello, favourite spot Lake Zell!

Surrounded by the majestic high peaks of the Hohe Tauern and the Schmittenhöhe, Lake Zell is one of Europe’s most beautiful and cleanest swimming lakes. No less than three lidos on the shores of Lake Zell invite you to take a dip in the refreshing water, relax on the sunbathing lawn or enjoy the end of an eventful day.

It's finally here - summer! And with it the most beautiful season for sun worshippers and water enthusiasts. On hot days, you can cool down in the water of Lake Zell, compete in races on the water slides in the outdoor pools or float across the water on your air mattress. As an alternative to hiking trails and bike tours, or as a well-deserved reward after a day on the mountain, numerous action-packed activities and spots for rest and recreation await you at Lake Zell.

Lido in the centre of Zell am See

You'll find your favourite summer spot at the Zell am See Lido within walking distance of the old town centre. Here you can cool down in the lake water, with temperatures of up to 23 degrees Celsius, or take a dip in the heated swimming pool. For relaxation in between, the sunbathing lawns offer you shaded feel-good oases, and guests enjoy Caribbean flair, refreshing drinks and summery dishes at the Beachclub Zell am See.

This lido offers families with children a lot of variety: kids whizz down the giant slide in the adventure pool or have fun with the splash showers or on the water mushroom. The children's pool is for the youngest. Daredevils can jump from the 5-metre tower into the cool water.

Lido in Schüttdorf

Meanwhile, summer is also celebrated at the idyllic Seespitz lido in Schüttdorf. The two jetties in the water are a great place to relax, and the lake shows its most beautiful side.

In addition to cosy sunny or shaded spots, the Seespitz lido also offers a wide range of water sports experiences. Windsurfing turns the lake into your playground. Would you rather relax on the water? Then rent a stand-up paddle from the windsurf centre next door and paddle leisurely through the gentle waves towards the sun.

Lido in Thumersbach

The region’s third lido also scores with aqua fun and pure sunshine: The open-air pool in Thumersbach, located on the eastern shore of Lake Zell, even offers the most hours of sunshine! Here you can top up your level of vitamin D with a view of the surrounding peaks and cool down in the lake or the heated pool.

If you're in the mood for change, you might discover a new hobby at the water ski school. The Beachclub Thumersbach provides food and drinks: here, cool refreshing drinks and classic swimming pool snacks are served to relaxing summer music until the evening hours. Those who want to enjoy the ultimate summer feeling can also take a boat from this lido for their journey back to Zell am See.

You feel most comfortable swimming in idyllic places and don't need slides, pools or restaurants for your happiness? Along the shores of Lake Zell there are numerous sunbathing areas with access to the lake where you can relax away from the hustle and bustle.

And the free of charge swimming spots Wieshof on the north shore and Erlberg "Haus Gabi" on the south shore of the lake also invite you to a relaxing summer day. In addition to changing rooms and sanitary facilities, both places offer a beach volleyball court for you and your sporty friends. At the Erlberg, guests can also play table tennis or set off by pedal boat.

The fascination of water sports around Lake Zell

If you're looking for a lot of action on and in the water during your holiday, then you'll be surprised by the many choices on Lake Zell: What will you enjoy today - kayaking, windsurfing or stand-up paddling?

Would you rather set sail as the captain of a boat? Then the numerous sailing, rowing and pedal boat rentals are the perfect address for you to conquer Lake Zell by boat: After all, here you have the most beautiful view of the mountain panorama! On board the excursion boats "MS Schmittenhöhe" or "Kaiserin Elisabeth" you can enjoy a leisurely trip across the water without the responsibility of a captain.
