Early birds...

Early in the morning, when other skiers are still fast asleep, a very special experience awaits us on the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See-Kaprun: freshly groomed pistes belong exclusively to early birds at "Ski'n'Brunch" in January and February. An extensive brunch on the mountain beckons afterwards.

The sun slowly comes out from behind the mountain peaks: it's only seven o'clock in the morning, but the view is all the more beautiful for it! Perfectly groomed pistes lie untouched at our feet. And while the day is only just beginning in the valley, we are already enjoying our first turns and a spectacular sunrise in a wintry setting.

The premium "Ski'n'Brunch" package on the Schmittenhöhe is one of those holiday experiences that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face for a long time to come: exclusively for participants, the mountain railways start their journey to the summit every Thursday in January, February and until the 12 March from 7 am (in February and March even a little earlier!). The management of Schmittenhöhebahn AG and experienced ski instructors are also on board: They accompany us in groups on our early morning adventure. This means that the pace is adapted to the skiers' abilities and the morning begins with either enjoyable turns on red slopes or fast laps on black runs: Ski'n'Brunch is therefore the perfect start to the skiing day for advanced, ambitious and athletic skiers who enjoy skiing on red or black slopes.

A LOOK BEHIND THE SCENES

Together, we not only explore the slopes, we also get to know the Schmittenhöhebahn AG company behind the scenes: our guides are happy to answer any questions about the cable cars, the ski area and the development of the Schmittenhöhe as Zell am See's local mountain. They will also reveal their personal favourite runs and always have a few skiing technique tips up their sleeves. This makes "Ski'n'Brunch" an exciting experience not only for new visitors to the region, but also for regular guests of the Schmittenhöhe, who can learn new things and improve their skiing skills.

AFTER SPORT, BRUNCH AWAITS

After an hour and a half of marvelling at the sunrise and panoramic views and whizzing down wide slopes, hunger finally sets in: luckily, Ski'n'Brunch also includes culinary refreshments. The groups either head to the rustic and cosy Blaickner’s Sonnalm, the Schmiedhofalm or the Sonnkogel Restaurant. This alpine hut combines modern flair with the best views. Here we fortify ourselves with a hearty brunch and enjoy coffee and hot chocolate with a view of the Hohe Tauern mountains: getting up early was definitely worth it!

• Cost: €69 per person – tickets are available at the ticket office or in the online shop.

• Requirement: valid ski pass
• What happens in bad weather? 
  If the weather throws a spanner in the works, Ski'n'Brunch will be cancelled by 12 noon on Tuesday at the latest. In this case, all participants will be notified by email and can redeem their ticket on another date.
