Early in the morning, when other skiers are still fast asleep, a very special experience awaits us on the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See-Kaprun: freshly groomed pistes belong exclusively to early birds at "Ski'n'Brunch" in January and February. An extensive brunch on the mountain beckons afterwards.
The sun slowly comes out from behind the mountain peaks: it's only seven o'clock in the morning, but the view is all the more beautiful for it! Perfectly groomed pistes lie untouched at our feet. And while the day is only just beginning in the valley, we are already enjoying our first turns and a spectacular sunrise in a wintry setting.
The premium package "Ski'n'Brunch" on the Schmittenhöhe is one of those holiday experiences that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face for a long time to come: The cable cars start their journey towards the summit from seven o'clock in the morning (in February even a little earlier!) exclusively for participants every Thursday in January and February. Divided into groups, we are accompanied by the management of the Schmittenhöhebahn AG as well as experienced ski instructors on the early morning adventure. In this way, the pace is adapted to the skiers' ability, and the morning begins with either leisurely turns on red pistes or fast downhill fun on black runs: Ski'n'Brunch is therefore the perfect start to the ski day for advanced, ambitious and sporty skiers who enjoy skiing on red or black pistes.
A look behind the scenes
Together we explore the pistes and get to know the Schmittenhöhebahn AG company behind the scenes: Our guides are happy to answer all questions about the cable cars, the ski resort and the development of the Schmittenhöhe as Zell am See's local mountain. They also reveal their personal favourite pistes and always have a few skiing tips at the ready. This makes Ski'n'Brunch an exciting experience not only for new visitors to the region, but also for regular Schmittenhöhe guests who can learn new things and hone their skiing skills.
Brunch awaits after sports
After an hour and a half of watching the sunrise, admiring the panorama and skiing down on wide pistes, hunger finally sets in: fortunately, culinary refreshment is also part of Ski’n’Brunch. For this, the groups ski either to the quaint and cosy Blaickner's Sonnalm or to the Schmiedhofalm. This alpine hut combines modern flair with the best view. Here we refresh with an extensive brunch and enjoy coffee and hot chocolate with a view of the Hohe Tauern: It was definitely worth getting up early!

- What happens in case of bad weather?
If the weather throws a spanner in the works, Ski'n'Brunch will have to be cancelled. Participants will be informed on Tuesday evening, and the ticket can be redeemed on another date.
