Tour description

High-altitude panoramic hike from the glacier to the valley – on the Alexander Enzinger Trail between Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel.

This high-altitude Alpine crossing leads from the Alpine Centre on the Kitzsteinhorn via the Alexander Enzinger Trail to the Maiskogel. The trail impresses with its diverse Alpine flora, glacier views and magnificent vistas of Lake Zell. Passing landmarks such as the Krefelder Hut, Stangenhöhe and Schoppachhöhe, the route runs through impressive high mountain scenery. The descent is via the Glocknerblick Hut and further down into the valley, or optionally with the MK Maiskogelbahn cable car directly to the centre of Kaprun. Alternatively, a shorter start at the Langwied station (1,976 m) is also possible.

Route description:
Ride up with the glacier lift to the Alpincenter at 2,452 m (the hike can start at the Häuslalm, next to the Langwied station, at 1,976 m) Start Alpincenter: Follow the yellow signs no 5 from the Alpincenter in the direction of the Krefelder hut and then further on over the Stangenhöhe at 2,212 m – Schoppachhöhe at 2,069 m.

From here go down to the Glocknerblick alpine guest house further on down to the village Kaprun

at path no. 25 or no. 33.

At least one person in the group ought to have some experience of hiking tours in the mountains! Good food wear, protection agains rain and sun! The weather can change quickly in the mountains!
