35 km, 1,500 metres of elevation gain, 3 glaciers and views of over 300 three-thousand-metre peaks. The Weißsee Glacier World Trail is the perfect introduction to high-alpine trail running – challenging, technically demanding and yet achievable for anyone with stamina, sure-footedness and a thirst for adventure on the Grossglockner.

Route description:
The start is at Enzingerboden (1,483 m) at the valley station of the cable car. The route soon passes Grünsee lake and continues to the middle station, before a longer climb leads directly up to the Rudolfshütte hut (2,315 m). From there, it is a technically demanding descent to the Tauernmoos reservoir (approx. 2,000 m). Immediately afterwards, the ascent through the Rifflkar begins, past the Rifflsee lake, up to the highest point, the Kapruner Törl (2,639 m). The descent is initially over a very technical section with stone slabs, then on scenic trails along the Mooserboden reservoir with views of the Wiesbachhorn. After crossing the dam, the route continues downhill on a technically challenging section to the Kaprun glacier railway. The last few kilometres are flat and lead directly to the finish in Kaprun, at Salzburger Platz.

Trail conditions:
Mit rund 1.500 Höhenmetern im Aufstieg, mehreren hochalpinen Passagen und technischem Terrain ist der GWT 35 ein idealer, aber nicht zu unterschätzender Einstieg in die Welt des GGUT. Trittsicherheit, Ausdauer und Erfahrung im alpinen Gelände sind erforderlich.
