The Maurerkogel rewards hikers with a unique panoramic view. From the Wilder Kaiser and the Hochkönig in the north to the Hohe Tauern with the Großglockner, Kitzsteinhorn and Großvenediger in the south, an impressive mountain panorama opens up. The ascent from the Schmittenhöhe leads past the Kettingtörl and along the Pinzgauer Spaziergang to the summit, where a summit book invites you to sign your name. The descent via the Rohertörl to the Hochsonnbergalm rounds off this scenic tour perfectly.

Route description:
Starting point Schmittenhöhe: The path goes down-hill to the Kettingtörl along the Hahnkopfliftes- Kettingkopf under the crest where the Pinzgauer Spaziergang (No. 719) starts, after 15 minutes walking you will get to the junction Maurerkogel. To the right the ridge leads to the peak. At the peak you can go on via the Rohertörl to the Hochsonnbergalm, which is a very traditional hut that reflects the unique character of the region (home-made products, own cheese dairy). The way back is on the Pinzgauer Spaziergang (No. 719) to the Schmittenhöhe.
