Route description:

Start in Kaprun, leave the village and follow the trails up to the Mooserboden reservoir. Cross the dam to Kapruner Törl (2,639 m), then descend to the Tauernmoos reservoir and climb back up to the Rudolfshütte (2,315 m). Continue over the Kalser Tauern (2,515 m) on a long downhill ride to the Dorfertal valley and then on flat terrain to Kals am Großglockner. From there, a climb leads over the Greiwiesen to the Lucknerhaus and further up to the Glorer Hut (2,642 m). Via the Salm Hut and Stockerscharte (2,465 m), the route descends technically over the Margaritze Reservoir and the Glocknerhaus, then climbs up to the lower Pfandlscharte (2,663 m). This is followed by a long downhill section to the Trauneralm, continuing on flat terrain to Ferleiten and then slightly downhill to Fusch. From there, the final climb begins, followed by a downhill section to the finish line in Kaprun at Salzburger Platz.

Trail conditions:

Most of the route follows alpine hiking trails on the Glockner circuit, with very varied terrain. Large sections of the route are above 2,000 metres, with four passes over 2,500 metres, and therefore require alpine experience, a head for heights and absolute sure-footedness.
