Closed from Ortlehen farm to Vorderweißsteinalm farm due to logging work.
From Kaprun to the Maiskogel – a varied hike through forests and meadows with magnificent views over the valley.
This leisurely, moderately difficult tour starts in the centre of Kaprun and leads along idyllic forest and meadow paths up to the 1,570 m high Maiskogel. Only a short section runs along Schaufelbergstraße, after which the route winds its way uphill through the high forest via farms, forest roads and narrow paths. Once at the top, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Kaprun and the surrounding mountains. If you wish, you can cover part of the route comfortably with the MK Maiskogelbahn cable car.

Route description:
Begin opposite the High School and continue along Schaufelbergstraße until you reach the first bend. Continue straight on tothe Ortlehen farm, then right to the Vorderweißstein mountain inn where the route turns off to the right. From here it continues over a stone path to the Maiskogel track. After approximately 200 m branch off to theleft, and after about 150 m take a narrow, marginally steep path off to the right. Now continue ascending in windings through timber forests and small clearings to the Maiskogel track and then left to the Maiskogel.
