Stadtplatz, 5700 Zell am See

On Zell am See's town square, you can admire the town's oldest building - the Vogtturm tower. Colourful market stalls with regional specialities, fresh fruit and vegetables from local farmers also attract visitors here every Friday morning from March to September.

A walk through Zell am See takes you to the historical roots of the town – Zell’s town square. This is the site of the Alpine town’s oldest building - the Vogtturm tower. Its origins probably date back to before the year 1000. The building was acquired and named Vogtturm by the merchant Johann Kastner in 1866. A visit to the town square is particularly worthwhile on Friday mornings, when market stalls around the Vogtturm tower invite you to browse, marvel and stroll. You can buy fresh, regional fruit and vegetables as well as cheese, meat, and bread from local farmers between March and November. The farmers' market in September also provides entertainment accompanied by live music.
