Fascinating panorama road

One of the world’s most amazing panorama roads – the Grossglockner High Alpine Road – has been listed since 2015 and leads directly into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, at the base of Austria’s highest mountain, and ends at the longest glacier in the Eastern Alp - the Pasterze.

Schedule/programme points

1. Joining of the National Park Ranger
10.30am at the Ferleiten cash desk: Welcome, brief presentation of key figures of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road

2. Hochmais stop
Explanation of the altitude belts, mountains, surrounding area (stop of approx. 15 minutes)

3. Haus Alpine nature exhibitions
Short tour of the indoor and outdoor exhibitions, nature in the surrounding area explained, possibility to purchase snacks and souvenirs (stop of approx. 30 minutes)

4. Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe
Depending on the guests‘ fitness level, short hiking tours to the Wilhelm Swarovski Observation Tower or part of the Gamsgruben Trail,
Lunch break: Lunch at the Gasthof Freiwandeck inn or the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Haus restaurant and the Panorama Restaurant
Souvenirs and Snacks at the shop in front of the visitors’ centre
(stop of approx. 1.5 hours)

5. Return journey
Stop at the “Mankeiwirt“ Gasthof Fuscherlacke inn or other stops as requested (will be arranged individually with the participating guests).

6. Cash desk in Ferleiten
Ranger leaves the bus (approx. 4.30pm)

Food and drinks are not included in the tour. The ranger speaks German and English as needed.
