At the DAV (German Alpine Association) refuge, you can quickly forget about everyday life and stress: Up here at 2,176 metres above sea level, the only things that count are alpine cosiness in the rooms, hearty dishes on your plate and your next summit experience on the trails of the Hohe Tauern National Park.
Every summer, numerous mountaineers and hikers choose this hut of the German Alpine Association as a base from which to start their alpine adventures on hiking and climbing routes for good reasons. At Gleiwitzer Hütte you will find a place for a rest and beds in cosy rooms. Situated between Steinernes Meer and Dachstein massif, the hut is an alpine experience by day and night. Just below the summit of the Hohe Tenn, the hosts of the Gleiwitzer Hütte, at 2,176 metres above sea level, will serve the best traditional Austrian cuisine. And while you wait for your refreshments, you can enjoy the mountain panorama of the Hohe Tauern on the terrace and let the day end slowly.
