Ebenmattenhütte - Fürthermoaralm

Ebenmattenhütte - Fürthermoaralm

am Mooserboden, 5710 Kaprun

variable rest days in bad weather

Located between the high mountain reservoirs Mooserboden and Wasserfallboden is an alpine pasture whose unique history dates back to the 17th century: the Fürthermoaralm. During a visit, you can delve into the past at the alpine pasture's museum and enjoy the homemade creations from the kitchen.

Where once alpine pastures had to make way for the construction of the hydroelectric power plant in the Kaprun Valley, one owner did not give up his place: The owners of the Fürthermoaralm bought back what was left of their former home in 1949, initially to serve milk to the workers of the hydroelectric power station. Today, the again flourishing Fürthermoaralm between the high mountain reservoirs of Mooserboden and Wasserfallboden is a popular summer destination for hikers and mountaineers. The milk bar is still there, as is an alpine farm shop where you get smoked bacon, cheese or syrup to take home. Want to delve deeper into the history of this legendary alpine farm? The museum on site reveals all the details and is definitely worth a visit.
