FINALLY, BACK ON THE PISTE AGAIN: THE KITZSTEINHORN STARTS INTO THE WINTER SEASON ON 09 OCTOBER

In Zell am See-Kaprun, wide pistes on the Kitzsteinhorn, Salzburg's only glacier ski resort, will be tempting visitors as early as 9 October. The glacier in Kaprun traditionally starts the winter season early and guarantees 100% snow-reliability until early summer. From November 5 to 7, the winter start will be celebrated with the new event "Snow-How Days".

IRONMAN 70.3 BETWEEN GLACIER, MOUNTAIN AND LAKE IS BACK AND A PINZGAU LOCAL MAKES IT TO THE WINNERS’ ROSTRUM

After a one-year break, the triathlon event of the year was once again successfully held in Zell am See-Kaprun thanks to a comprehensive safety concept. Athletes from 69 nations around the world competed for victory on 29 August 2021. At the 9th edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun, Germany's Laura Philipp once again showed that she is one of the best triathletes in the world and secured a convincing victory. In the men's race, Germany's Jan Stratmann celebrated his first IRONMAN 70.3 triumph. Local hero Lukas Hollaus secured an outstanding second place one month after his Olympic appearance.

Exercising in fresh air and in nature is the main motives for travelling in current times. The urge for exercise, sun and nature is greater than ever before. The positive effect of an active holiday or hiking can now be measured in the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region and in Zell am See-Kaprun. In combination with the new Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail from Krimml to Zell am See, the local tourist destinations are now offering, for the first time, fitness testing possibilities with qualified guides several times a week.

1,238 KM TO LAKE ZELL: THIS WAS THE 10TH RED BULL X-ALPS

Red Bull X-Alps, the toughest paragliding competition in the world, came to an end at 11:30 am on Friday, 2 July 2021. 5 athletes mastered the longest route ever and landed at the new finish in Lake Zell.
Chrigel "the Eagle" Maurer from Switzerland took the title for the seventh time in succession, Patrick von Känel and Simon Oberrauner finished 2nd and 3rd in the tenth edition of the world's toughest adventure race.

Back in August 2020, Zell am See-Kaprun started a comprehensive strategy process to determine the future direction of the tourism region. A new strategy until 2025, which should indicate the long-term direction of Zell am See-Kaprun and realise the goals of the region, was finally developed together in the team and with over 200 opinions from the market.
