When the first rays of sunshine hit the peaks of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, one thing’s certain: it’s the perfect day for a freeride adventure – even in April (or perhaps especially in April). Together with HEAD, two seasoned locals and our trusted videographer, we set out to capture fresh footage focused on freeriding – right in the heart of the Kitzsteinhorn’s dramatic glacier landscape, with its many off-piste routes.

HIGH-ALTITUDE FILMING: RAW. REAL. UP CLOSE.
Shooting a video at over 2,500 metres is a whole lot more than just “camera rolling” – especially when the weather, light and snow conditions are in constant flux.
What we were up against:
- Rapidly changing conditions in the days leading up to the shoot
- Shifting light that demanded a sensitive filming approach
- Technically challenging terrain that pushed both people and gear
- Snap decisions to capture the most authentic moments
Between runs, it was all about checking footage, swapping batteries, hunting new angles – always with the aim of capturing the essence of freeriding.
