Once you've conquered Europe's highest grass mountain peak, the 2,117-metre Hundstein, you can celebrate your summit victory at the Statzerhaus right next door: here you'll find freshly prepared hut dishes, cool drinks and also a cosy spot for the night.
Hardly any other summit in SalzburgerLand offers as many routes as the 2,117-metre-high Hundstein. This is also where the Statzerhaus sits enthroned and awaits hikers and mountaineers, who arrive from all directions via well-signposted and extensive hiking routes. Those who finally reach the Statzerhaus enjoy the impressive mountain panorama from the Wilder Kaiser to the Dachstein. For more than 100 years, this has been a place where hikers spend the night and enjoy their stop. By the way, the hut is not only famous for its excellent cuisine and views, but also for the traditional Jakobiranggeln (wrestling), which always takes place on the first Sunday after Jakobi (25 July).
