On the route of the Women´s Trail

@BOUNCING_BETTI has tested one of the Women´s Trail Zell am See-Kaprun routes on behalf of all participants: The Panorama Trail Long in 2,000 m on the Schmittenhöhe. With the SUUNTO watch on the wrist, the track is always at hand. For more details, continue reading below – see you at the Women´s Trail!

By mountain railway to the panorama paradise

It is exactly 9:00am in the morning when we take the first gondolas uphill to the Schmittenhöhe. It's really cool that - thanks to the cable car - we can start our trail run straightaway up here on the mountain, leaving us with more energy for the countless paths and trails in all directions.
Today we want to run the "Panorama Trail Long" route, which is part of the 3-day trail running weekend for women - the "Women's Trail" - on Saturday. The Women's Trail is a running event with timekeeping, but most important are the fun of running and achieving common goals. The event’s atmosphere is more like a girls' weekend.

Getting to know the Panorama Trail

I loaded the track for the panorama trail onto my SUUNTO watch in advance. Once arrived at the top of the upper terminus, we immediately start the navigation and run along the Sissi Circular Trail, past the Hochzeller Alm downhill to the Sonnkogel. Enjoying the view to Lake Zell is definitely on the agenda today - after all, we just want to get to know the route a bit. For steeper passages, we take out the sticks and push them with our arms - it always helps also during the race!
The trail becomes flatter again and we are really amazed about the stunning vista to the freshly "dusted" Kitzsteinhorn as well as other well-known peaks like the Grossglockner. We have managed the first kilometres!

Return via the Pinzgau Walk

Returning in direction upper terminus of the Schmittenbahn, we are greeted with great interest by the four-legged locals – the cattle on the pasture. The trail via the "Pinzgau Walk", a long-distance hiking trail that is one of the most beautiful high-altitude trails in the Eastern Alps, is fantastic! Easy, not too steep - we really get into a flow. The navigation on the SUUNTO watch also says "On track". This makes trail running real fun. We now really feel our calf muscles quite a bit. Phew, I think that - for the Women's Trail - I should definitely train a bit more. It’s less than 1 month to go!

WOMEN’S TRAIL 9 - 11 October 2020

Well, I definitely feel like having a little race up here. And with the view to Lake Zell, I am also looking forward again to running the circular route at the Lake Run on the last day of the event weekend. The Panorama Trail on the Schmitten is 13.4 km long (600 altitude metres) in the LONG version,  and you have to manage 8.8 km (423 altitude metres) if you opt for the SHORT version. You can even decide during the run which distance you choose. My highlight will again be the Night Run on Friday evening. Starting directly in Zell am See and equipped with headlamps, the participants will run a 6.7 km route as a prelude to the trail running weekend. Don't miss this event and register together with your friends! See you!
