Christmas Tree Dive of the Water Rescue Zell am See
Christmas Tree Dive of the Water Rescue Zell am See
At the traditional Christmas Tree Dive on 25 December, the ASBÖ Water Rescue Zell am See gives thanks for a safe year of operations and commemorates those who lost their lives on the lake. Starting at 5 pm, rescue divers raise a Christmas tree that had been placed at a depth of 15 meters, accompanied by alpine brass musicians and a circle of glowing torch swimmers. The mayor and local priest share short greetings, words of gratitude, and blessings before a small firework display lights up the lake.
For 48 years, this touching ceremony has drawn locals and visitors to the Oberschneider Bay between the Grand Hotel and the lakeside pool. From 4 pm, you can enjoy mulled wine and punch at the rescue team’s punch stand.
