The two high mountain reservoirs Wasserfallboden and Mooserboden lie like two turquoise fjords at the back of the Kaprun Valley: a trip to this impressive structure at 2,040 metres above sea level takes you to a marvel of engineering and right into the middle of a spectacular natural landscape.

The forces of nature and the power of technology: the Kaprun high mountain reservoirs Wasserfallboden and Mooserboden make this combination tangible. In the middle of the unique landscape of the Hohe Tauern, a massive structure has been built, generating electricity for the region at 2,040 metres above sea level. The large Mooserboden reservoir can be reached by bus or by inclined lift: Here you can take part in tours of the dam wall or start hikes around the reservoirs. In addition, you can visit the Electricity Adventure World, which tells you about the history of the power plant, the challenges of construction and the diversity of the national park. With the activity stations on the "Electricity Trail", children can also learn about hydropower in a playful way.
