House with 400 years of history!

Exhibitions: Prehistory, tourism pioneers, power plant construction, development of glacier railways

The stone farmhouse, which is essentially 400 years old, was out of use for several years and left to decay. With the purchase of the property by the municipality of Kaprun, the building was placed under monument protection. The location on the Kirchbichl has a special charisma, as there are other historical buildings in the vicinity of the church.

The former Kaprun Heimatmuseum, which is now called the Kaprunmuseum, has found an attractive home on the first and second floors. On the ground floor there is also the wood stove parlor, which is operated by the Gugglberger bakery.

Special Kaprun - Discover the first traces of settlement and also why high society was vacationing here in the 19th century. Power station construction and the glacier ski area are further topics. In order to make the exhibition as multifaceted as possible, special exhibitions complement the offer in the unique ambience of the Steinerbauerhaus at Kapruner Kirchbichl.
