Treasures of music history at 'Hochkultur mit Tiefgang'

When thinking of Austria, images of the picturesque Alpine world come to mind immediately. But music is as closely related to the country as its landscape is. Both worlds - the world of mighty summits and of classical music - are joining hands once again in summer of 2010: the summit of 2,000-metre-high Schmittenhöhe will be the venue for the event series of 'Hochkultur' for the third time in a row. Lovers of music can grab the opportunity to enjoy cultural treasures against the gorgeous backdrop for ten days from 30th July to 7th August 2010. The event's title: 'Hochkultur mit Tiefgang'.

Dance the lake

Dance the Lake: taking to the floor of a floating ballroom Every Friday, the cruise liner MS Schmittenhöhe turns into a floating ballroom. After the resounding success of the dance evening 'Pirnis Plattenkiste' organized by the Austrian TV station ORF in May, the event is continued as a series titled 'Dance the Lake'. Guests can perform their best foxtrot steps and most elegant twists to the sound of oldies and other popular melodies played live. MS Schmittenhöhe pulls the anchor at 7.30 pm but returns to the pier every hour to take new guests aboard. You still feel a little clumsy on the dance floor? No problem: the members of Zell's dance sport club give tips for the perfect steps.

Vienna Harmonists

Gerhard Reiterer, Gernot Heinrich, Bernd Hemedinger, Georg Lehner, Ronald Seboth, and Michael Roth are the Vienna Harmonists and share one passion: the Comedian Harmonists. In an amazing a-cappella performance they tell the story of the famous ensemble from Berlin. Cult songs like 'Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus' revive the unique esprit of the one-of-a-kind band which became famous in the 1920s and 1930s: charming nonsense lyrics and sophisticated musical arrangements.

Triathlon in Zell am See - Kaprun

1.5 kilometres swimming, 40 kilometres cycling, and 10 kilometres running: the sports club of Zell am See is looking for ambitious all-round athletes. The 22nd triathlon of the region will even take real pros to their limits. If you want to pit your strength with international competitors in Lake Zell, in the saddle of your bike, or running, you can put your name down on the list of participants until 29th July 2010.
