Three, two, one - take-off
The beginning of aviation in Zell am See-Kaprun has frosty roots: some 80 years ago, the surface of frozen-over Lake Zell served as a landing strip. Later on, a surrogate airfield was built in the moorlands at Zell. Thus, going on a journey above the clouds no longer depended on the weather. Flight conditions, however, had to be just right. Back then, it was mainly gliders that took off from there.
As things progressed, the glorious makeshift meadow became the airfield of Zell am See. Today, you can take off from here to enjoy panorama glider flights or else have your personal pilot take you across the landscapes of the region in an aeroplane. Those who have the guts to do it, get off the plane before landing time and make their way back to earth smoothly after pulling the rip cord of their parachute at the right time for a soft touch-down.
If you want to hold the control stick in your own hand, the pilots' school will know best how to take care of you. The teachers are happy to give insights into reading navigation maps. At the airfield, trained pilots are allowed to service their own machines by themselves and to have them filled up again. At the airfield's restaurant you won't miss a single take-off and can enjoy the adventure of flying from a save position, with your feet firmly planted on the ground.
