Hochkultur mit Tiefgang

'Hochkultur mit Tiefgang': this is the combination of Austrian music and the stunning nature of the Alps. For the third time already, Zell am See-Kaprun and the artists' agency 'Music Arts Vienna' have joined forces to stage this one-of-a-kind concert series on Schmittenhöhe. So this year once again, guests can look forward to bands playing different styles of music on the open-air stage on Zell's local mountain.

Three times Schmittenhöhe will be the venue for Austrian music culture: the band Jazz vom Fass from Lower Austria is kicking off the performances at an altitude of almost 2,000 metres above sea level with Dixieland tunes on 31st July. On 1st August Zell's town band is playing traditional songs, followed by the performance of the Concilium Musicum Wien on 5th August. The quintet plays classical music from the 18th and 19th century.

But not only high up in the mountains but down in the valley, too, Hochkultur is celebrated - at the opening evening at the Ferry Porsche Congress Center, for instance. On 30th July the Vienna Harmonists are staging the history of Berlin's most famous a-cappella band. A potpourri of classical music, film and dancing tunes can be expected at the performance of the Salonfähigen Saitenspringer at the congress center in the heart of Zell on 6th August. And on 2nd August Zell's parish hall is the venue for the concert of a quartet consisting of musicians of the famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Hochkultur event is culminating in Zell's Lake Festival on 7th August. Visitors can look forward to live music, fireworks, culinary treats and lots more on the shore of Lake Zell. Don't miss it!

Vienna Harmonists

Songs like 'Veronika, der Lenz ist da' and 'Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus' have made the Comedian Harmonists famous. The Vienna Harmonists for their part revive the legacy of the vocal ensemble from Berlin in their a-cappella show.

Jazz vom Fass

There are many different styles of jazz. The band Jazz vom Fass from Lower Austria has fallen in love with Dixieland jazz which started its triumph in New Orleans of the early 20th century. Jazz vom Fass guarantees for a passionate performance on Schmittenhöhe.

Zell's Town Band

Zell's town band is one of the oldest societies of the town and has made it its task to preserve the musical traditions of Austria. For more than 130 years they comply with their ambition in excellence. On Schmittenhöhe visitors can come and see for themselves.

Wiener Philharmonia Quartet

Peter Wächter, Harald Krumpöck, Robert Bauerstatter and Friedrich Doleczal are members of the famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra which has made a name for itself by playing in the greatest concert halls of the world for many decades. The Wiener Philharmonia Quartet is bringing this unique flair to Zell am See.

Concilium Musicum Wien

From Viennese dance music via Haydn's classic to chamber music by Franz Schubert: the Concilium Musicum Wien will be presenting a selection of the most beautiful sonatas and symphonies from its vast repertoire on Schmittenhöhe.

Die Salonfähigen Saitenspringer

Music has to be fun! And the band 'Die Salonfähigen Saitenspringer' never fails to convey their enthusiasm for music. Indispensable requisites for the five musicians are drums, bongos, and car horns as well as lots of humour and typically Austrian charm.

Zell's Lake Festival

Zell's traditional Lake Festival is the culmination of the Hochkultur programme. From the early morning until the late evening hours guests and locals will be flocking to the heart of the region to enjoy music, culinary delicacies, and a great firework on the lake's shore.
